Urban Recycling Infrastructure in Ningbo

Role: Master’s researcher
Principal investigator: Chao Zhang, my master’s supervisor
Project: World Bank-financed China Plastic Waste Reduction Project, Ningbo Component
Period: 2024–present
Status: Manuscript in preparation

Within the project, I analyze operational data from smart recycling bins in Ningbo’s central urban area to assess program implementation. My work includes cleaning and structuring longitudinal records, measuring household participation and infrastructure access, and examining how usage varies across locations and over time.

For an associated working paper, I use a research sample drawn from the broader project database to study how spatial friction shapes household use of recycling infrastructure. I have led the paper from developing the research question through data preparation, analysis, visualization, and drafting the initial manuscript.

The underlying operational records are confidential, so I do not share disaggregated data or results on this website.

Personal Climate Agency

Role: Research collaborator
Collaborator: Kristian Steensen Nielsen
Institution: Department of Management, Society and Communication, Copenhagen Business School
Research visit: January–June 2026
Collaboration: 2026–present

I work with Kristian Steensen Nielsen on an ongoing project on personal climate agency, contributing to data analysis and visualization.

Research visit note

SECFC Research Software

Role: Developer and maintainer
Status: Open-source software; accompanying manuscript in preparation

I developed and maintain SECFC, an R package that estimates carbon footprints from lifestyle survey responses. I built the package, its documentation website, and the underlying calculation workflow so that researchers can connect survey measures of behavior with estimates of associated greenhouse gas emissions.
